 Remembering...

Edward looked at Bella in a angry, yet loving look. "Bella," he said "Why did you go see him? I specificly told you not to! Bella you make it so hard sometimes. You reek of Werewolf!" Edward looked around the otherwise peaceful meadow.

Miraculously, Bella had managed to navigate her way through the perilous tree trunks and rocky terrain that led to the infamous meadow where she had first officially witnessed Edward's magnificence. Thinking back on that day that seemed so familiar, like an old friend, yet so far away, made her feel strangely nostalgic, as if she were groping for an era of her life that was long gone. So much had changed in the past couple days, it had left her mind reeling and trying to find solid ground. She felt so insecure, like the dark ages of her existence when he, the love of her life, had been gone, except this was a new type of insecurity. One that was all new to her.

Glancing up at Edward, the young woman couldn't help but feel slightly defiant at the look on his angelic face. Bella felt so broken up inside, as if her heart had been torn into a million little pieces that belonged to two different people, yet she could still find it somewhere inside of her to be stubborn. As much as she loved the vampire before her, with a passion that was unknown to him and others, she couldn't let go of the expression on Jacob's face when she had been in his room for what would probably be the last time. It made her want to break down crying, but it also made her want to tear out her cascading tresses with her tiny fists...

"Why did you go to see him? I specifically told you not to! Bella, you make it so hard sometimes. You reek of Werewolf!"

Bella tried to stay strong at his dangerously low, demanding question, but her reply came out soft and meek, "I had to see him one last time, Edward... Just one last time." She looked hastily away, and felt a tear slide down her cheek. Looking back up into his liquid topaz eyes, she added, "I've hurt him so much, Edward. He's dying inside because of me. You know that I'll always love you more than anything or anyone, more than you could ever even begin to understand, but... No matter what, he helped me through a time when otherwise I wouldn't have survived. It... it kills me to see him like that."

Curling up on the gently rippling grasses of the meadow where they resided, Bella swallowed hard and looked down at her feet, trying to gain control of her tornado-like emotions. She was a mess, both physically and emotionally.

(((Katie that was wonderful. My writing is no good compared to yours. But here goes...)))

The expression on Edwards face was no longer stone, it turned to pure sorrow. Edward turned to Bella and said,"Bella , I'm sorry that you had to see Jacob in that state of insanity. Bella, if you have to see him again I'd appreciate a little notice first."Edward turned and looked around the beautiful meadow where he had first showed Bella his wretched sparkling, the sparkilng that almost got him killed by the Volturi. But he knew Bella was an emotional mess. He looked at Bella and suddenly walked forward and gave Bella an emotional embrace. He knew he should control his anger and jeolousy better. He looked at the now more serene look on her face. "Bella I'll never hurt you like he did, you know that. I love you so much, your love amounts to one tree in a large forest." Edward looked at Bella, she seemed better now he thought.

"Bella, I'm sorry that you had to see Jacob in that state of insanity. But if you have to see him again, I'd appreciate a little notice first."

His expression was softer, less hard and tense than it had been only moments before. Bella bit her upper lip, gazing at him through dark eyelashes. She finally stated quietly, her voice barely above the whisper of the gentle breeze, "But if I had told you where I intended to go... Would you have let me?" She didn't like the sound of her reply. It made it seem that Edward had full control over her, completely say in everything she said and did. And yet, in a way, that was true. He had an affect over her that no one else did, not even Jacob. He held a special place inside of her, different from anyone else. Sort of like a VIP pass to her heart.

Their eyes locked for a moment, and then Edward moved forward to wrap his muscular arms around her slight figure. Bella obliged gratefully, burying her tear-stained face in his cold, yet comforting rock-solid chest. She needed to know that he was right there, throughout the storm, always by her side. It was something that she had always known deep down, but now it seemed to increase with sudden intensity. Her heart flared with the unconditional, irrevocable love that had swept her clear off her feet almost a year ago.

After what seemed like a long while, Bella lifted her head up and looked up into the ethereally beautiful face that was Edward Cullen, her expression much less troubled than it had been. She once again rested her head on the crook between his neck and shoulder, where his lovely face was still very much in view. It was strange, how quickly he could calm the raging sea of her feelings. She felt almost guilty, for becoming so content and tranquil while Jacob was most likely still in a state of complete and total turmoil. How could she ever be happy, knowing that he was so broken up inside?

"Bella, I'll never hurt you like he did, you know that. I love you so much, your love amounts to one tree in a large forest."

That was the answer to her question. Bella couldn't help but feel the familiar soaring sensation when he uttered those three words. It was like heaven arriving in her mind. However, a part of that statement, she couldn't let him get away with. "Yes, but what is your forest compared to the vast ocean that is my love for you?" She said, trying to mimic his flawless speech, though failing somewhat miserably. Normally, she would feel somewhat stupid saying those words to anyone, even Edward, because they sounded so much like a badly delivered line from a cheesy, melodramatic romance flick. However, as of now they seemed to fit the moment perfectly.

"Yes, but what is your forest compared to the vast ocean that is my love for you?"
Edward looked longingly at Bella," But that ocean is not as vast as the forest of my love for you." He pulled Bella tighter to his icy skin. There eyes met for a second and the look in Bella's eyes showed her love for him.

He now thought back to that fateful day of thier meeting. He remembered his longing for her since that day. He knew he should of stayed away, but now he knew why he couldn't. He also thought to the day that foul vampire took Bella. And also the day that he thought that he had lost Bella.

"Bella, you know that if you would have asked me first I would not have allowed you to go to him. But I'm kind of glad that you did. Now you know that he is trying to tear us apart, and never will stop. I'm sorry Bella." Edward looked at Bella's lovely face.

"But that ocean is not as vast as the forest of my love for you."

Settling into his tight, cool embrace, Bella looked up into his delightful eyes and said, "Says who? I'll have to disagree with that one, Mr. Cullen." A smile touched her lips, as she listened to the peacable gurgling of the hidden creek nearby. This seemed so much like old times, but... different, in some many ways. She sighed wistfully, remembering a time during her life when things had been so much less complicated. And yet, she couldn't bring herself to wish for those simplistic times again. Because before Edward, life was completely, totally and utterly meaningless.

The light breeze tickling her face, Bella sat in a silence, content to sit with Edward for the rest of eternity. This moment was priceless, like so many others, and she wanted to preserve it forever, like a leaf in between the pages of a novel. Struck by a sudden urge, the young woman reached up pressed her lips against the base of Edward's throat, his frigid skin sending chills down her spine. She inhaled the scent of him, intoxicated immediately.

"Bella, you know that if you would have asked me first I would not have allowed you to go to him. But I'm kind of glad that you did. Now you know that he is trying to tear us apart, and never will stop. I'm sorry."

Leaning back against his chest, Bella stated quietly, "But if I was with him, wouldn't you be doing the same thing? And besides, nothing, I mean nothing, can tear us apart. I thought you would have realized that a long, long time ago, after all the hell we've been through together." She took his hand, tracing the lines on his palm, and murmured, "I'll always love you, through thick and thin, all the good times and the bad, no matter what we're in this together." Her eyes widened slightly, and she said, "Those just sounded like wedding vows.."

"Bella, I realise that nothing, I mean nothing, will tear us apart. You are right about if you were with that dog.... I would try to tear you two apart. All that matters is us." Edward said looking at Bella. He knew that nothing would ever for any reason tear them apart, especially that dog. He knew that Bella and Jacob's relationship was special, but it was not at all like Bella's and himself.

He also knew that the date of there wedding was coming. He was going to send Jacob and Billy an invitation. He knew that Bella had told him not to, but it seemed right. He realised that if Bella and Jacob were together he'd want to know of a wedding. He knew that if she and Jacob were together that he would be waiting in the wings to take over, just like Jacob was now. He pulled Bella into yet another loving embrace. Bella had said that she would not see Jacob again, but Edward knew better.

Edward wished that he didn't have this wistful longing for Bella, but he did and always would. He wished that he could look into Bella's mind, but he knew even by looking at her that she was also thinking of the upcoming wedding. He knew that she wished that they didn't have to get married. Edward was working on Alice to make her not plan such a lavish wedding. He was still going to invite most of Forks though.

How he would love to feel normality again. He thought of how lucky Bella and other humans were. How they didn't have to control themselves, and could go out at all hours, how they didn't have the uncontrollable urge to feed. He thought back to the times that he had tried to end his existance. How sometimes he wished that Carlisle had let the Influenza take his life, but at the same time he was glad that he was here. Because if he wasn't he would never have known Bella, the love of his life, the love of his very existance. He galnced at the serene look on Bella's face. He pulled her tighter, yet being carefull enough not to crush her. He remembered the time that he thought that he had lost her. He shuddered at that memory. He also thought to the times of gladness. He smiled.

((Blerg, I am so sorry for keeping you waiting, Briana! I promise to be more active and reply quicker. Though, I've been suffering some writers block, [horrific experience, avoid it at all costs] so my posts might be a bit off until I regain muse. But I will most certainaly try my best.))

"Bella, I realize that nothing, I mean nothing, will tear us apart. You are right about if you were with that dog.... I would try to tear you two apart. All that matters is us."

Bella had to stop herself from wincing as he referred to Jake as "that dog." But Edward spoke the truth, that much she knew. Settling into his arms, she remained silent, simply revelling in the moment. She wished they could just stay here forever in the peaceful quiet, and forget the rest of the world. Shun all that was real and keep refuge in each other's embrace. Right now, she didn't feel like facing reality. It seemed much more tempting to just prolong this evening for eternity.

If only she could cast away these thoughts that weaved in and out if her mind, then everything would be perfect. They could exist in blissful ignorance, knowing nothing but the sunshine of their love. It seemed that lately, Bella had frequently been wishing to escape her life.

It was the only thing she wanted, other than to be by Edward's side. Everything was changing, it was overwhelming. She had thought her migration to Forks had been a bit adjustment; it was a tiny speck compared to the events taking place now-a-days. But still, she knew that it was useless to long for something that could not be attained. She should just be happy to have what she did now.

Edward was here. As he had just stated, all that mattered was that they were together always. Bella knew that till the very day of their wedding, she would be hesitant. It was never her love for him that she doubted, but the simply status of being a married woman was enough to make her falter. However, if she wanted to be with him for all eternity, thus becoming a vampire, this was a necessary step. And she would do whatever it took to stay by his side forever.

Resting her head on his icy shoulder, Bella sighed in contentment. Glancing up at Edward's ethereal, angelic face, she asked quietly, "What's it like to be so completely and utterly perfect? To be lovely in every way possible, both inside and out?" It was an out-of-the-blue inquiry, but she had always wanted to ask him. It was not only the fact that he was an immortal creature that made every aspect of him so totally amazing. Clearly, Edward Cullen would be stunning in any way, shape, or form.

"What's it like to be so completely and utterly perfect? To be lovely in every way possible, both inside and out?" he heard Bella say. If only she knew what the torment of it was. To never be able to hold her tightly, never to be able to be in the sunlight, never being able to do basic human things. He looked at Bella, unsure of how to respond. He was not perfect, or even lovely.

"Bella, regardless of what you may believe, I am not perfect. I am a diamond nicked with imperfection and flaws. I may look perfect but I am not on the inside. The torment, confusion, and pain makes the imperfection complete. Immortality is not a gift, it is a pain. I still do not understand why you would want to be as I am. It is not that I don't love you. It is the opposite.....I do not want you to have to go through the pain, the torment. I am sorry...I meant all of that but i hadn't mean to tell you." A look of torment flashed on his face as he said this.

He held Bella tighter, being even more careful not to crush the beautiful girl.
